This rare snakebark maple was introduced in Japan in 1991 by Gotenba Noen as a variegated sport of Acer crataegifolium in the Shizuoka Prefecture. The variegation has pink and white margined dusting variegation on the green leaves. In the fall, these leaves turn from yellow to red. Ko fuji nishiki may reach 12 ft in 10 years. This tree has been listed as an Acer crataegifolium in Yano s book and Acer rufinerve on many European websites.

Trees were potted from large liners to gallons in this spring and may not have completely filled out their pots.
