Ao shidare is a nice weeping Japanese maple with a blue-green hue to the leaf. Ao shidare has a nice cascading habit forming an umbrella reaching 4-5 ft in height by 6-7ft in width in 15 years. Fall color is a bright golden yellow. Ao means blue-green while shidare means cascading or weeping.   Ao shidare is a cultivar that dates back to lists in Japan in the 1700 s. Ao shidare makes a great focal point planting, accent planting, or would be great for growing in a patio container or deck pot if given good drainage.
